THE PREMISE
You begin with one old, cheap armed merchant ship. You decide where it goes, what it carries, and when to push through danger. Everything else keeps moving on its own.
The interstellar world ran on Gravity Corridors — stabilized routes that turned light-years into hours. At the start of the game, a vast migratory ecosystem crossing deep space reaches human space. Corridors destabilize, trade and communication collapse, and once-connected systems fall silent one by one. You were a small independent freight captain inside that order. In the opening disaster you rescue a stranded navigation officer and an advanced Mission Core from a wrecked special mission ship — and inherit a broken mission you never signed up for.
YOUR ROLE
You are the captain, not the pilot. You watch the bridge, answer the important moments, and let the crew run the ordinary hours.
You command from the bridge: set the course, choose the cargo, decide when to fight and when to run. The crew runs the ordinary hours. AMFM lives beside your real work — a small window, quiet reports, orders when you have a minute. Watch closely and the ship feels alive; leave and the voyage continues without you.
THE LONG VOYAGE
Voyages run for tens of minutes to hours of real time. The trip itself ??contacts, hazards, mining, repair, events ??is the game, not the port at the end.
Ships travel inside stabilized corridors; stepping out is a Vector Break into normal space, where travel slows dramatically. Between the lanes: distress signals, mining sites, storm fronts, hostile contacts. You can break off to chase an opportunity and rejoin the corridor later — the corridor is a highway, not a cage.
INTERVENTION AND AUTONOMY
When you are away, officers decide and report. When you are watching, your orders change outcomes ??better results, special choices, extra reactions. Being absent is never a penalty.
The rhythm is simple: plenty to watch, rarely called upon. A good state is one where you could command everything — but you would rather just watch the bridge work.
THE CREW
The bridge crew is a fixed cast of strong personalities — no gacha, no rarity swaps. In peacetime they tease each other and grumble like a sitcom; under command and in crisis, each is competent at their post. Getting to know the same officers over long voyages is the point.
Officers join through the story, not purchases: rescues, negotiations, regional problems, proving a capability. The Mission Core you carry is the key to growing your old ship — but it unlocks with time, resources, and crew, never instantly.
